2008.02.05 - DrilNES!

DrilNES 1.00 released! People waiting for this site to update rejoice!

2005.10.28 - Uninteresting

Yeah, my page is uninteresting on account of I never update it. But I thought I'd paste a link to my dev journal on gamedev.net. In case you were interested.

2005.02.25 - Unpossible!

Two updates in a short span of time? Do I have some kind of fever? No. I decided that I never liked the silver-ish border around the Curved Green theme...so I changed it. I also fixed a slight screw-up with the Orange Pop theme.

2005.02.23 - Orange Pop!

I added a new theme to the page. It's called Orange Pop, since I like Orange Crush, and the orange really pops off of the page. I like it. The side menu on Firefox (and probably other CSS-loving browsers) contains dropdown menus. Internet Explorer does not display such a thing, but then, the code to make the menu not scroll along with the page doesn't work in IE either, so that's no big loss.

2004.08.19 - Homeland Security prevented me from eating lunch yesterday

...and I'm not a big fan. I had a list of stuff to do yesterday during my lunch break, the last of which was actually "eat my lunch." And I'm not eating out this week so I went home to make myself some scrambled eggs. However, it was not to be. I sat down at my computer to do a quick email check (which I can't do from work and there was a knock at the door. It was a guy from United States Homeland Security and he wanted to interview me. Okay, so to be honest, I freaked out at first. But it was all good. A guy in the apartment down the hall from me was applying for a job at border control, and they were simply doing a background check. But it took, like, thirty minutes, during which time I could have, apparently become enlightened or, more importantly, eaten my lunch. But it was not to be. After he left, I tried one more time to valiantly check my email, then the repair guy came by to fix my air conditioning, since it was broken. So I gave up on lunch because my lunch hour was over and I went back to work. Grrr.

2004.06.23 - Hooray! It's grillin' time!

I picked up my grill from Von Maur today. It's a Brinkmann Pro Series 2600, and as far as I can tell, it totally rocks. I'm probably going to try it out tomorrow. A little test run, shall we say. With steak. Oh yes, steak. Mmmmmmmmm

2004.06.20 - A winner is me!

Apparently, I just won a really nice gas grill in a drawing at Von Maur. That's awesome! I hope to run out and get it sometime during the week. Woot!

2004.06.14 - Harry Potter And the Crazy Azkaban Guy

You guessed it. I saw Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban yesterday. I dug it. I think it was the best of the movies so far. I was worried at first, with the new director and the new Dumbledore, but I think both did fantastic jobs. The cinematography was much improved in this film vs. the others. Plus, darker movies, I think, always score higher in my books than not. All in all, great film! I look forward to more, as well as to book six.

2004.06.11 - The Chronicles of Riddick

So I went to see The Chronicles of Riddick today. I liked it. A little bit. On a scale of -10 to 10, with -10 being "That movie was the Worst movie I've ever seen" and 10 being "This movie is supremely awesome," it'd get a 1. Maybe a 2, tops. Ignoring, if you will, the super-bad science of the fire planet (on which it gets hot enough for the rocks to melt, but simply hiding in the shadows keeps you cool), the entire Necromonger army looked like they belonged on the set of Troy. Also, Thandie Newton is not a very good actress in this movie. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. However, there is a good side to this movie. Namely, any time that Vin Diesel is onscreen, the movie is rockin'. He's perfect in the part of Riddick. I loved Pitch Black, but this movie was just okay. See it if you can for free. Or maybe a matinee.

2004.06.11 - Holy style, Batman!

Yeah, I added another one. It's ever-so-slightly less monochromatic than the last one. And it's green. Oh, so very green. Green's never been my favorite color, but it was feeling left out of the page, so I decided to appease it and add a green theme. Plus, curved corners, which were harder to make (with them also showing up in Internet Explorer) than I'd been led to believe. On another note, I fixed a long-standing issue with the Default Blue theme and Internet Explorer. Now the pages with little content (like the contact page) should display with the correct width. Unlike before, where there was no such thing. God, IE bothers me.

2004.06.10 - New style

Since it's so easy for me to add styles now, I went ahead and added a red theme (in keeping with the monochromatic color sets I seem to like). I made this circuit board pattern for the background (using a photo of an actual board as reference). Then I pretty much made everything red. Maybe it's boring. But maybe it's not. Maybe I like it anyway.

2004.06.09 - Fixed links

Okay, so the most recent page update broke a few links. I'm pretty sure I've taken care of all of them, but it's hard to say for sure. I'm too lazy to do a full-on check.

2004.06.09 - (Yet) Another page update!

I totally redesigned the way the page works. With PHP running the show in the background with the help of MySQL, it's considerably more flexible than it used to be. Plus, it's easier for me to update various chunks of the page now! Also, I decided to redo the menu. Again. The drop-downs no longer amused me, so they're toast. Now the entire site is 100% JavaScript free! Finally, there are now "styles" to choose from (check the menu). Right now, I only have two styles available (Default and Lite), but I'm sure I'll add more in the future. Behold the power of CSS!

2004.03.12 - Another update

I updated the page such that the background remains fixed. I think I like it better this way. Also, in those browsers that support it (Mozilla, I'm looking at you here), the background is now translucent-looking, using a slick trick I found at css/edge, coupled with a hack to preventInternet Explorer and Opera from displaying the page badly that I found at Albin.Net's "Owen Hack"page. All that's left is to figure out why the menu across the top does not display in my friend's browser (Internet Explorer for the Macintosh...not sure what version).

2004.02.15 - Page finally updated! New look!

After well over a year since my last update, I've made some changes to the layout of the page, the mostsignificant of which being the changes to the menus. No longer bound solely to Internet Explorer, themenus now work in all the browsers I tested with (including Netscape, Opera, and Mozilla Firefox).A few minor layout changes later (new logo), and it's all set!

2000.03.22 - A Moment of Silence

At the age of merely 21, Seumas McNally, the man behind DX-Ball 2, the Particle Fire Screensaver, and most recently Tread Marks (and founder of Longbow Digital Arts) passed away yesterday (March 21, 2000) due to Hodgkins Lymphoma, a malignant growth of cells in the lymph nodes. This man was one of my personal heroes: Not only was he a great programmer, who proved that you don't need a million dollar budget to produce a good software product, but he was also a great person: Eager to listen to suggestions, always willing to help others, and always very kind. The game development community (and the world) has lost a brilliant and thoughtful mind. Seumas, you will be missed. Please visit GameDev.net's Memorial to Seumas McNally.

2000.02.01 - New Page Layout

This is my first attempt at doing anything major with JavaScript and/or CSS...I have tested the page with Internet Explorer 5.0 and Netscape Navigator 4.08...Let me know if something doesn't work right on your browser. Note that Netscape requires you to click the menu items to get the dropdown menus, but in Internet Explorer the menus popup on a mouse over...due to some lacking functionality in Netscape, this whole project took about four times longer than it would have. Netscape users, I hope you appreciate this!

2000.01.21 - New Song Added

Visions added. This is, as far as I remember, the first song I have composed. This is a greatly redone version, using only a piano (my beautiful Alesis QS8). Once again, you can snag it from the Music page.
